Here are some of the fun things you can do in Lake Chelan during spring break.
An overload of watersports and activities
The 50-mile-long Lake Chelan in North Central Washington was made for watersports. Jet-skiing, water-skiing, paddle boating, kayaking, rowing, and cruising are just a few of the activities popular on Lake Chelan. You can rent boats, paddleboards, jet skis, and kayaks at Shoreline Watercraft. There are many public boat launches, too, on Lake Chelan’s south shore, which includes three marinas. For something a bit more chill, hop aboard the Lady of the Lake, a ferry that takes you to Upper Lake Chelan, Stehekin, and Holden Village.
Pick a trail, any trail
From April 4 to 8, take time to traverse the scenic one-mile Riverwalk loop trail. If that’s not enough, you can continue on until the Reach 1 trail, an extension of the Riverwalk that eventually becomes a gravel pat. Or, explore the many trails that can be found in Echo Ridge. You can also go to Elephant’s Head, a two-mile climb up 1,200 feet, where you’ll see an array of purple lupin, feathery phlox, buttery balsam root, and swaying, green grasses coating the slopes.
Comb the lake
In the spring, the water level of the lake can drop by as much as 10 feet, making this a perfect time to comb Lake Chelan’s banks for stunning rocks and minerals. If you or a friend has a metal detector, you can have some fun going over exposed sand to see what you can find. Aside from Lakeside or Don Morse, you can also head to Chelan Falls Park, Willow Point Park, and Beebe Bridge Park.
Bowling is always a good idea
Bond with your friends and family at Chelan Lanes. For a little old school sporting action, head to the lanes on a Friday or Saturday night after 5 p.m. for a groovy cosmic bowling experience. If all that bowling leaves you feeling hungry, troop to Company Pizza, where you can fill your stomach and play arcade games while you’re there.
Bring home more than memories
