A man making a wine

Spring means that it’s time to go out and enjoy all that Lake Chelan has to offer. With sunny skies and daytime temperature in the 60s, this North Washington destination offers tremendous opportunities to indulge in your favorite activities. Get back on the trails. Enjoy wine straight from the barrel. Play golf. Attend a jazz festival, and more!

Read on for details on all the exciting spring activities this picturesque valley has to offer this spring:

Take a hike

Lovers of long walks are in for a treat. Time again to walk anywhere – from city streets to backcountry trails.

If you have children, take to the Riverwalk Loop Trail in Lake Chelan, where there are fewer people in the spring. The paved walkway stretches across an easy mile where you’ll pass by the stunning Riverwalk Pavilion. If you and your kids are up for a longer walk, continue to Reach 1 trail, where you will see a dam.

For adults looking for a more challenging trek, head to the Echo Ridge trail system, where routes meander for 25 miles. Trail difficulty ranges from simple walks to tougher backcountry hikes, so make sure to pick a trail that suits your fitness level and preparedness. If you’re lucky, the Snowshoe Trail may already be free of snow. The 13-mile Devil’s Backbone awaits adventurous hikers.

Sample wines straight from the barrel

For a more laidback spring activity, tour Lake Chelan’s vibrant wineries. In April, Lake Chelan wineries are releasing whites and rosés that are guaranteed to please your palate. Aside from that, you can also sample wines straight from the barrel during Spring Barrel Tasting.

There are many local wineries to visit, including:

  • Tsillan Cellars, the 2020 Washington Winery of the Year that features cozy outdoor seating complete with a koi pond and firepit.
  • Lake Chelan Winery sells cheeses that you can pair with your chosen tipple.
  • Cairdeas Winery offers wine flights and heated outdoor seating beneath tents. If you’re lucky, the friendly resident dogs might come over and greet you.

Play golf

Are you an avid golfer? You’ll have fun at Lake Chelan, which has two golf courses. There are an additional five golf courses nearby, so you can choose the greens that suits you best. There’s also a championship putting course at The Green at Don Morse Park and two mini-golf facilities the family will enjoy.

Attend the Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival

The fun doesn’t end there. Jazz aficionados will enjoy the annual Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival, which happens in May. You can also catch regular music performance at The Vogue, Campbell’s Resort, and other local wineries.
