Perfect kid-friendly activities in Lake Chelan

Whether you’re visiting or calling it home, one thing is clear: Lake Chelan is a great place for families. The beautiful area in Washington has a lot to offer kids all year round. During summer, families can hit the water, while winter promises plenty of fun activities in the snow.

Here are some of the kid-friendly attractions and activities everyone can enjoy in Lake Chelan:

Hiking trails

Get a healthy dose of nature on one of the many hiking trails in Chelan. One of the easiest is the Little Bear Trail in Lake Chelan State Park, which is a loop that has a short tunnel, streams and a pine forest, among other sights. For more options, visit Echo Ridge, where you can find a variety of trails in varying lengths. Other trails you might want to explore with your kids include Blue Lake Trail, Reach 1 Trail, and Beebe Springs Natural Area Loop.

Slidewaters Waterpark

Kids – and adults – of all ages can find something to enjoy in Slidewaters Lake Chelan Waterpark. The 12-acre waterpark features 19 attractions such as body slides, tube rides, an activity pool, a 60-person hot tub, an Aqua Zoo, and more. There are also activities you can enjoy out of the water such as sand volleyball, and amenities like a sun deck and lounges. If all that activity leaves the family hungry, the River Run Grill is ready to serve you. Slidewaters operates on a seasonal schedule from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day, so make sure to check schedules in advance.

Lakeside Surf

For more water fun, Lakeside Surf can be found just next to Slidewaters. The surf facility houses the 16-meter Citywave USA, the world’s largest stationary wave. Lakeside Surf also offers sand volleyball, a surfer hot tub, a private VIP space, a retail surf shop, and food and beverage outlets. You don’t need to pay admission if you only want to visit the surf park to dine, shop, or watch the surfers, but you need to book a surf session if you want access to the Citywave.

High Trek Adventure Park

If your kids are not afraid of heights, they’ll be up for a sky-high treat at High Trek Chelan. The aerial adventure park features a high ropes course with over 60 aerial challenge elements that are color-coded according to difficulty. Kids ages four and up are welcome to try the Cadet’s Course, while those from ages seven and up can explore the Captain’s Course. There are also two ziplines with amazing views of Lake Chelan and four outdoor ax-throwing lanes.

Echo Valley Ski & Tubing Area

If you happen to visit Chelan in the winter, you can take your kids to Echo Valley Ski & Tubing Area. The resort offers ski and snowboard instruction and rentals, three rope tows, a six-lane tubing hill, and a 1,400-foot Poma lift. There is also a day lodge and eatery with a fireplace at the base area – a great place to get warm in with a comforting cup of cocoa.

These are just some of the activities you can look forward to if you are considering moving your family to the area. Learn more about Lake Chelan homes for sale by contacting Coldwell Banker Lake Chelan Properties at 509.682.7777 or emailing us at info(at)cbchelan(dotted)com.
